Aerial view of Cushendall
Session at McCollam's |
Sit on the scenic terrace, fragranced by lily and roses and watch the village go by. Plan your day with a complimentary drop off, take a trip to Glenariff’s stunning forest and waterfall park to enjoy the majestic vista down the glen to the sea beyond. Take a walk to the beach and golf course 10 minutes’ away, then veer left and stroll along the cliff path with its sheer-drop views to Layd Church, a 13th century Franciscan foundation. Shop for crafts in Cushendall’s boutiques and enjoy a cone of our renowned local ice cream, Maud’s. Or a little farther afield, take day trips to castles, the Giant’s Causeway, Belfast’s university and botanical gardens, or Old Bushmills Distillery.
As evening falls, enjoy your time, either by the wood-burning stove on winter evenings, or on the flower-decked patio during summer sunsets. Then, head out to enjoy the night in Cushendall. A fireside gourmet meal at Harry’s restaurant perhaps, one of many local eateries. Then, there are three splendid pubs within a stone’s throw of each other. The Lurig attracts the younger crowd, with pool tables and a lively vibe. The Central is a picture-perfect example of a cosy and historic Irish tavern. While the craic at Johnny Joe’s pub draws locals from many miles, since it often sees local storytellers spin a yarn in a rocking chair by the kitchen range, or hauntingly beautiful singers treat the throng to an impromptu performance. Expect fiddlers, guitarists and pianists too, as you soak up a traditional Irish night and treat yourself to what we call ‘a wee dram.’ Or three! Whether you choose to do a little or a lot during your stay at Sundial House, you’re assured of a very warm welcome. If there’s any way we can make your holiday even more comfortable, just ask, and we will do our utmost. |
